Some shaving tips from Men's Health Magazine

Here are some good tips for a better shave:

  • Shave in the shower or right after.
  • Use a shave brush to lather up your face, the brush will loosen skin and lift wiskers
  • Let the lather or lotion sit on your beard for 45 seconds to soften it up
  • Use a good lotion after the shave to protect your newly exposed skin
  • TAKE YOUR TIME
It also says that frequent shaving of the face is why men tend to have less wrinkles than women.  We are regularly exfoliating half of our face and neck!

One Wipe Charlies Shipping Soon!

Looks like my first order of One Wipe Charlies will be shipping soon.  I'm pretty excited about these, as the baby wipes we've been using are pretty big and totally not supposed to be flushed.  I'm just worried that they will contain the same preservatives that the Cottonelle Fresh Wipes have and we'll both end up with a butt rash again.  We'll see!

I also picked up the travel size Dr. Carver's Easy Shave Butter.  I wish it had already shipped though, because I'm supposed to travel for work a couple days next week.  I guess I'll just go without shaving those days...

I ordered the One Wipe Charlies

So I went ahead and added the One Wipe Charlies to my next order.  It won't be until l
ater this month I'm sure, since I just got a package a week or two ago.  While I was on the site I noticed that now they have a travel size of the Dr Carver's Easy Shave Butter.  So I added 2 of those also.  One for my travel bag, and another to give to a friend.

If you aren't familiar with the One Wipe Charlies, they are basically baby wipes for guys.  Maybe some day when I'm feeling like typing a personal expose, I'll tell you about our personal horror story (worse for my wife!) with using the Cottonelle Fresh Wipes.  Just think jock it, athlete's foot, or a yeast infection, on your bum.  So anyway, I'll try these out and let you know how it goes.  I hope they show up on a silver platter.

Another good review of Dollar Shave Club

Here is another great review of Dollar Shave Club.  I have no affiliation with this person, but their review is good.  Far more creative than mine:

Not only is it a good review, it is a great blog altogether!

Dollar Shave Club - Dr. Carver's Easy Shave Butter

Last spring Dollar Shave Club began selling their own shave gel.  I haven't done any research on the name, but I'm sure there is some humor to be found if you try.  It's called Dr. Carver's Easy Shave Butter.  It is $8 a tube, which is a little higher than the Nutrogena shave gel that I had previously been using.  But, I was willing to give it a try.  So in June, I added it to my next shipment along with an additional blade for my wife to have.

opened dollar shave club box with easy shave butterJuly 1st the order showed up.  It came in a typical basic brown package.  Of course the package came with some quirky marketing including a card inside and something printed in the lid.  There were instructions for the use of the shave butter as well (see below).

After using the Shave Butter for a few weeks now, I can tell you that it is good.  It appears to contain more "natural" ingredients compared to the gel I was using, and doesn't have any petroleum based additives.  There is a slight tingling on my lips when I'm shaving, and no amount of wiping with the back of my hand will eliminate it.  Only when I'm done shaving and get a full rinse does it stop.  This stuff goes on clear, and some times I feel like I don't put enough on, but usually it doesn't matter, the shave feels good, and my skin feels incredibly smooth and soft after I'm done.  I also feel like I need less moisturizer with this product.  Though I still use my Nutrogena after shave lotion with SPF anyways.  In fact, I would say that last Saturday evening, I had the best shave of my life with my Easy Shave Butter and my Dollar Shave Club razors.  Please feel free to comment on any of my posts to ask questions or ask for my input.  I'll try out the wipes next!

Almost a year later, still enjoying Dollar Shave Club

It has been over a year since my last post and I'm still using http://www.dollarshaveclub.com.  I've been a customer for over a year now, and have actually added some items to my order.  I've received a second handle at my 1 year anniversary, and I ordered an additional one.  Now my wife is able to have her own and not use mine on her legs.

My favorite addition is the Shave Butter.  I got it a couple of months ago and have been loving it.  I'll create a post all about it soon.  You should also check out the "wipes" they are selling now.  I haven't ordered them yet, but to be totally honest, I will.  My house is a believer in having wipes in the bathroom.  We used Cottonelle for years, until we both got some sort of rash/sensitivity from them.  Maybe they were just a bad batch, but it turn out a major pain in the behind.  Think yeast infection on your back door.  We now just use baby wipes (yes, we know just how bad they are for the plumbing).

In closing, I can't tell you enough about how much I enjoy the convenience of http://www.dollarshaveclub.com.  It just shows up every month and I get great shaves.
